Worldschooling, Learning Resources and Toolkits

Worldschooling, immersive learning, experiential learning—whatever you call it, I believe hands-on experience is far more powerful than the traditional classroom model.

Our family blends the richness of travel-based learning with the stability of home life. Since we can’t worldschool full-time—our kids do attend mainstream school—we make every trip count, diving into the culture, history, and daily rhythms of a place while nurturing curiosity at home. For us, worldschooling is about being intentional: connecting with communities, seeking out authentic experiences, and letting our children’s questions guide the way.

This belief is rooted in my own journey. At 16, I spent a year in France, becoming fluent in French through immersion. Later, as a trained secondary languages teacher, I studied immersion methods in Canada. Those experiences showed me firsthand that this approach truly works—it builds not just knowledge, but confidence, adaptability, and a genuine connection to the world. That’s the spirit I bring to our family’s learning: the world is always a classroom, near or far.

And while not every family (ours included!) can live a full-time worldschooling lifestyle, there are still plenty of ways to weave learning into travel. Here are some resources to help you add a little extra discovery to any trip.
