If I had to pick just one country to spend the rest of my days in—Thailand aside, of course—it would, without question, be France. I’m a full-on Francophile. There’s just something about France that ticks every box: culture, beauty, history, food (even if a little tough for vegans), and weather. It definitely has the je ne sais quoi.
What makes France so special? It has fantastic beaches, wonderful lakes and rivers, snow-capped peaks, picture perfect villages and incredible volcanic scenery.
The weather is (generally) kind, the pace of life is slower, and if you’re into camping travel like we are, the campsites here are incredible and a great introduction to camping in Europe. Then there’s the history. France is basically a living museum. From ancient Roman ruins to medieval towns, Gothic cathedrals to elegant châteaux, the past is woven into everyday life.
